Assessment of Mood
Psychological evaluations that focus on mood impairment may look at emotional dysfunction and mood instability. If it is reported that there is a change in pattern of mood, and the individual fluctuates between mood states, then an evaluation of mood may be helpful at determining whether the emotional changes are situational, physiological, or a direct response to something else that the individual is experiencing (such as medication, developmental transition, hormonal changes, etc.).
